Samples are collected for chromosomal analysis and molecular diagnostic test and reports are given by experts.

Autopsy and pathological studies:

Ultrasound can give fairly accurate diagnosis in most of the cases. Detailed autopsy of the fetus and placenta will be helpful in the following situation.
  • Confirmation of the diagnosis
  • Finding of additional malformations
  • Certain situation where ultrasound alone cannot make a definitive diagnosis (e.g.,) Lethal skeletal dysplasia, renal cystic disease
  • To evaluate the cause of unexplained intrauterine fetal demise, intrauterine growth restriction, non-immune hydrops.
With these information a fairly accurate diagnosis is possible which will help to predict the recurrence risk and to derive an action plan in the future pregnancies.
